Vermicelli is a type of pasta in long, thin strands—thinner than spaghetti.
The word comes from Italian for "little worms," describing the shape.
In Italian cuisine, vermicelli is slightly thicker than angel hair; in Asian cooking, the term often refers to rice noodles or bean thread noodles: stir-fried vermicelli with vegetables.
