wok

Curved Asian cookware

A wok is a round-bottomed cooking pan with high, sloping sides, used especially in Chinese and Southeast Asian cuisine.

The shape allows food to be tossed and stirred quickly over high heat: She stir-fried the vegetables in a hot wok.

Woks work best on gas burners; flat-bottomed versions exist for electric stoves.
