Bolognese is a meat sauce originating from Bologna, Italy, typically made with ground beef, tomatoes, onions, and wine, simmered slowly.
It's the traditional sauce for tagliatelle and lasagna: spaghetti bolognese, I made a bolognese from scratch.
The term also describes anything in the style of Bologna's cuisine.
