thin

Lacking in width

Thin, mainly an adjective, is the opposite of thick but it does not have the dimension-specifying functions that thick has.

Things that are thin have a narrow or scant dimension from top to bottom, front to back, or side to side (thin layer of snow).

Thin air is air at a high altitude, except in the expression out of thin air (where it is meaningless).

To thin something is to dilute it, or reduce its density or dimensions.
