oregano
Tomato sauce seasoning
Oregano is an aromatic herb in the mint family, used dried or fresh to season food.
Its pungent, slightly bitter flavor is characteristic of Mediterranean and Mexican cuisines: pizza without oregano isn't pizza.
The dried leaves are more potent than fresh.
In some regions, oregano is slang for marijuana, playing on their similar dried-leaf appearance.
