longship
Oared Viking craft
A longship is a type of wooden warship used by Vikings and other Scandinavian seafarers, characterized by a long, narrow hull, shallow draft, and symmetrical ends that allowed it to reverse direction without turning.
Powered by both oars and a single square sail, longships could navigate open ocean and shallow rivers alike: Viking longships raided coastal monasteries throughout Europe.
