Greenland

Arctic Danish territory

Greenland is a massive island between the North Atlantic and Arctic oceans, an autonomous territory of Denmark despite lying geographically in North America.

Most of its surface is covered by an ice sheet, with habitable areas limited to the coast.

The name is famously misleading—Iceland is greener than Greenland.

Climate scientists study Greenland's melting glaciers.
