strake
Ship's hull band
A strake is a continuous line of planking or plating running the length of a ship's hull, from bow to stern.
Each strake contributes to the vessel's structural integrity and watertight shell.
The term extends to similar longitudinal strips on aircraft fuselages or other structures: The hull showed damage to several strakes below the waterline.
