North Sea
Britain-Scandinavia waters
The North Sea is a shallow arm of the Atlantic Ocean lying between Great Britain and the European mainland, bordered by Norway, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and France.
It connects to the Atlantic through the English Channel and to the Baltic Sea.
Major ports include Rotterdam, Hamburg, and Aberdeen.
The North Sea is significant for shipping, fishing, and offshore oil and gas extraction: North Sea oil transformed Britain's economy in the 1970s.
