carrack

Large sailing vessel

A carrack is a large sailing ship used from the 14th through 17th centuries, with high fore and stern castles and typically three or four masts.

Carracks were the principal vessels of European exploration and trade, capable of long ocean voyages: Portuguese carracks carried spices from the East Indies.

The design evolved into the galleon.
