ferry

Short crossing vessel

A ferry is a boat or ship that carries passengers and vehicles across a body of water on a regular route: We took the ferry to the island.

The verb means to transport people or things, often back and forth: She ferried the kids to soccer practice.

The transportation needn't involve water—anything moved repeatedly between points can be ferried.
