Faroe
North Atlantic islands
Faroe refers to the Faroe Islands, a self-governing archipelago in the North Atlantic between Norway, Iceland, and Scotland, part of the Kingdom of Denmark.
The word appears most often as an adjective: Faroese wool, Faroe Islands, the Faroese language.
The islands are known for rugged cliffs, seabird colonies, and traditional sheep farming—the name itself derives from an old word for sheep.
