typesetting
Composing printed pages
Typesetting is the process of arranging text for printing or display—selecting fonts, sizing letters, spacing lines, and positioning elements on a page.
The term dates from when printers set individual metal letters by hand, later by machine.
Today typesetting is largely digital: The book's typesetting made it easy to read.
Desktop publishing software has made basic typesetting accessible to anyone.
