vector

Magnitude with direction

A vector is a quantity with both magnitude and direction—velocity is a vector, speed alone is not.

In biology, a vector transmits disease between organisms: Mosquitoes are vectors for malaria.

More broadly, vector describes any carrier or course: Social media became a vector for misinformation.

In computing, vector graphics use mathematical paths rather than pixels, allowing images to scale without losing sharpness.
