running head
Repeating page label
A running head is text that appears at the top of each page in a book, journal, or formal document—typically the title, chapter name, or author's name.
It helps readers locate themselves within a longer work: The running head on left pages showed the book title; on right pages, the chapter name.
Also called a running header.
