editor
Cuts and polishes
An editor is someone who prepares written material for publication—selecting, revising, correcting, and arranging content.
A newspaper editor decides what stories run; a book editor shapes manuscripts.
In film and video, an editor assembles footage into a coherent whole.
Editor also names software for creating or modifying files: a text editor, a photo editor.
To edit is to perform this work.
