brayer
Printmaker's hand roller
A brayer is a small hand roller used to spread ink evenly, especially in printmaking and block printing.
It consists of a rubber or plastic cylinder mounted on a handle.
You load the brayer with ink, roll it across a flat surface to distribute the ink evenly, then roll it onto the printing block: She used a brayer to ink the woodcut before pressing.
