pull
Draw toward yourself
Pull is an important “cause motion” verb, in which the resulting motion is toward the speaker.
It is typically the opposite of push: I pulled down a branch and smelled the blossoms.
From this, many other meanings arise, such as pulling something behind you so that it moves with you or pulling something out of your pocket toward you.
Pull is frequently followed by adverbs of direction, such as pull up in a vehicle or pull off a victory.
As a noun, pull represents an act or instance of pulling.
Figuratively, it represents influence: She has a lot of pull with the CEO.
