sloop
Single-masted sailing craft
A sloop is a sailboat with a single mast and a fore-and-aft rig—typically one mainsail and one headsail.
The design is common for recreational sailing because it's simple to handle: We spent the afternoon on a little sloop in the harbor.
Historically, sloops also served as small warships.
