barque

Three-masted vessel

A barque is a sailing ship with three or more masts, the rear mast rigged with fore-and-aft sails while the others carry square sails.

The term belongs to the age of sail, when such rigging configurations mattered for speed and maneuverability.

Also spelled bark, particularly in American English.
