gaff
Pole for fish
Gaff has several unrelated meanings.
A gaff is a hooked pole for landing large fish, or a spur attached to a fighting cock's leg.
In sailing, it's a spar that supports the top edge of a sail.
In British slang, a gaff is a house or flat: Let's head back to my gaff.
To blow the gaff is to reveal a secret.
A gaff is also an undergarment worn to conceal male genitalia, used by drag performers and some transgender women.
Separately, gaff is an informal variant of gaffe—a blunder or embarrassing mistake: The politician's gaff went viral.
