corvette
Small naval warship
A corvette is a small, fast warship, typically used for escort duty or patrol.
Historically, corvettes were sailing vessels smaller than frigates.
In modern navies, the term describes lightly armed ships suited for coastal operations.
The corvette intercepted the smuggling vessel. (Capitalized Corvette is the sports car.)
