schooner

Fore-and-aft rigger

A schooner is a sailing vessel with two or more masts, rigged fore-and-aft rather than with square sails.

Schooners were common cargo and fishing ships in the 18th and 19th centuries: The schooner sailed up the coast carrying lumber.

In some regions, a schooner is also a tall beer glass.
