histopathology
Microscopic disease study
Histopathology is the study of diseased tissue under a microscope.
Pathologists examine thin slices of tissue—typically from biopsies or surgeries—to diagnose cancer, infections, and other conditions.
The field combines histology (the study of normal tissue structure) with pathology (the study of disease): The histopathology report confirmed the tumor was benign.
