fibrosis

Organ tissue hardening

Fibrosis is the thickening and scarring of connective tissue, usually as a result of injury or disease.

The body produces excess fibrous tissue as part of a repair process, but this can impair organ function: pulmonary fibrosis, liver fibrosis, cystic fibrosis.

The condition may be localized or progressive.
