sarcoma

Bone cancer type

Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in connective tissues—bone, cartilage, fat, muscle, or blood vessels.

Unlike carcinomas, which arise in epithelial tissue (skin, organ linings), sarcomas originate in the body's structural and supportive tissues.

They are relatively rare, accounting for a small percentage of adult cancers but a larger share of childhood cancers.

The biopsy revealed a soft tissue sarcoma in her thigh.
