projections
Estimates of future
Projections are estimates or forecasts extending current data into the future: budget projections, population projections, sales projections for the next quarter.
The word implies calculation based on trends rather than mere guessing.
Projection also means the display of images onto a surface, as with film or slides.
In psychology, projection is attributing your own feelings or motives to others—accusing someone of the jealousy you yourself feel.
The common thread is throwing something outward: numbers into the future, light onto a screen, emotions onto another person.
