light installation
Sculptural lighting piece
A light installation is a work of art that uses electric light as its primary medium, often occupying or transforming an architectural space.
Unlike a single light fixture or sculpture, installations typically involve multiple elements arranged to create an immersive environment: The museum's new light installation fills an entire warehouse with shifting colors.
The term spans gallery pieces by artists like Dan Flavin or James Turrell to temporary public displays.
