light installations
Glowing sculptural pieces
Light installations are artworks or displays that use artificial light as their primary medium.
These range from neon sculptures to immersive LED environments to projected imagery in public spaces.
The term covers both permanent architectural lighting and temporary artistic works: The museum's new light installation transforms the atrium after dark.
Unlike conventional lighting, which serves practical purposes, light installations treat illumination as an expressive end in itself.
