id

Unconscious primal urges

In psychoanalytic theory, the id is the part of the mind containing primitive instincts and drives—hunger, aggression, sexual desire—operating unconsciously and demanding immediate gratification.

Freud contrasted it with the ego and superego.

In casual use, acting on your id means following raw impulse: My id says eat the whole cake. (Capitalized ID is identification.)
