two-dimensional

Lacking spatial depth

Two-dimensional describes something having only length and width, lacking depth—existing on a flat plane.

A square is two-dimensional; a cube is not.

The term extends to fictional characters or real people who seem flat, lacking complexity or psychological depth: The villain was disappointingly two-dimensional.

Often shortened to 2D.
