planets
Celestial bodies orbiting
Planets are celestial bodies that orbit a star, are massive enough for gravity to make them roughly spherical, and have cleared their orbital neighborhood of other debris.
In our solar system, eight planets orbit the Sun—four rocky inner planets and four outer gas giants.
Historically, planet meant "wandering star," since planets appeared to move against the fixed background of stars.
Figuratively, on what planet questions someone's grasp of reality: On what planet is that acceptable?
