superclusters

Cosmic web nodes

Superclusters are among the largest known structures in the universe, consisting of groups of galaxy clusters bound together by gravity and stretching hundreds of millions of light-years across.

Our own Milky Way belongs to the Laniakea Supercluster.

These immense formations represent the upper limit of gravitationally organized matter, beyond which the universe appears relatively uniform.

Astronomers mapped the supercluster containing thousands of galaxies.
