volcano
Erupting geological formation
A volcano is an opening in the earth's surface where molten rock, ash, and gases escape from below.
The term also applies to the mountain or hill formed by accumulated eruptions: Mount Vesuvius is an active volcano.
Figuratively, a volatile situation may be a volcano waiting to erupt, or someone might explode like a volcano when losing their temper.
