aphelion
Orbit's distant extreme
Aphelion is the point in a planet's or comet's orbit when it is farthest from the sun—the opposite of perihelion.
Earth reaches aphelion in early July, when it's about 152 million kilometers from the sun.
The term applies to any object orbiting the sun: The comet's aphelion takes it beyond Neptune's orbit.
