transit
Buses and subways
Transit is movement from one place to another, especially the passage of people or goods through an intermediate point: goods damaged in transit, passengers in transit to connecting flights.
Public transit refers to buses, trains, subways, and other shared transportation systems.
In astronomy, a transit occurs when a smaller celestial body passes across a larger one, as when Venus transits the sun.
