Aphrodite
Greek love deity
Aphrodite is the ancient Greek goddess of love, beauty, and sexual desire—the equivalent of Roman Venus.
In modern usage, an Aphrodite refers to an exceptionally beautiful woman: She emerged from the water like an Aphrodite.
The name appears in scientific contexts, notably *Aphrodite's child*, a species of sea mouse, and aphrodisiac, substances believed to stimulate sexual desire.
