observatory

Dome for stargazing

An observatory is a building or facility designed for observing celestial or atmospheric phenomena, typically equipped with telescopes and other scientific instruments: The Griffith Observatory offers views of the Los Angeles skyline and the stars above it.

By extension, any elevated structure offering wide views may be called an observatory: The skyscraper's observation deck functions as an urban observatory.
