g-force
Roller coaster intensity
G-force is a measurement of acceleration relative to Earth's gravity.
One g equals the normal pull we feel standing on Earth; two g's means twice that force pressing on your body.
Fighter pilots and astronauts experience high g-forces during rapid acceleration or tight turns: The roller coaster pulls about 4 g's on that first drop.
Negative g-forces occur during sudden deceleration, pushing blood toward the head.
The term appears in contexts from aerospace engineering to amusement park thrills.
Also written as G-force.
