electrode
Battery's conductive contact
An electrode is a conductor through which electric current enters or leaves a substance—typically a battery, electrolytic solution, or vacuum tube.
The two electrodes in a circuit are the anode (positive) and cathode (negative).
Electrodes appear in medical devices like pacemakers and EKG machines, where they contact the body to deliver or detect electrical signals: The technician attached electrodes to his chest.
