electroshock
Psychiatric current treatment
Electroshock is the application of electric current to the body, especially to the brain as a psychiatric treatment.
Electroshock therapy (also called electroconvulsive therapy or ECT) induces seizures to treat severe depression and other mental disorders.
The term often carries negative connotations from its history of misuse: They threatened him with electroshock.
