repolarization
Electrical potential recovery
Repolarization is the return of a cell membrane to its resting electrical state after depolarization.
The term appears most often in cardiac and neural physiology, where cells must reset between electrical impulses: The T wave on an EKG represents ventricular repolarization.
Without proper repolarization, muscles and nerves cannot fire again normally.
