electrodeposition
Ion-based metal coating
Electrodeposition is the process of depositing a layer of metal onto a surface using an electric current.
The object to be coated acts as an electrode in a solution containing dissolved metal ions; when current flows, metal accumulates on the surface.
The technique is used for electroplating, creating protective coatings, and manufacturing electronics components.
