liquid hydrogen
Supercooled elemental fuel
Liquid hydrogen is hydrogen gas cooled to extremely low temperatures (below -253°C) until it becomes a liquid.
It serves primarily as rocket fuel and in scientific applications requiring cryogenic conditions: The rocket's first stage burned liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen.
Its high energy-to-weight ratio makes it valuable for aerospace despite the challenges of storing such a cold substance.
