biosensor
Biological detection device
A biosensor is a device that detects biological substances—glucose levels, pathogens, hormones, or other molecules—by combining a biological component with an electronic sensor.
The biological element recognizes the target substance; the sensor converts that recognition into a measurable signal.
Diabetic glucose monitors are the most common example: The biosensor in her insulin pump continuously tracks blood sugar.
