anode

Cathode's opposite pole

An anode is the positive electrode in an electrical device—the terminal where current flows in.

In a battery, it's where oxidation occurs; in electroplating, it's the metal that dissolves.

The term pairs with cathode, its negative counterpart: Connect the red wire to the anode.
