filament
Bulb's thin wire
A filament is a very fine thread or fiber.
In lightbulbs, the filament is the thin wire that glows when electric current passes through it.
Plant stamens have filaments supporting the pollen-bearing anthers.
The word extends to any slender threadlike structure: filaments of spider silk, protein filaments in muscle tissue.
