electromagnetic induction
Magnetism creating current
Electromagnetic induction is the production of electric current by a changing magnetic field.
When a magnet moves near a conductor, or when a conductor moves through a magnetic field, voltage is generated.
This principle underlies electric generators, transformers, and induction cooktops.
Michael Faraday discovered the phenomenon in 1831.
