Ancient Canaan's territory
Palestine refers to a historic region in the Eastern Mediterranean, roughly comprising present-day Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza Strip.
The term carries deep political weight: for Palestinians, it names their homeland and aspirational state; for others, it may refer only to the ancient territory or the Palestinian Authority's administered areas.
Free Palestine is a common protest slogan.
The adjective Palestinian describes the Arab people indigenous to the region and their culture, cuisine, and diaspora.
