Fatah
PLO's dominant movement
Fatah is a Palestinian nationalist political party and the largest faction of the Palestine Liberation Organization.
Founded in the late 1950s, it led the Palestinian independence movement for decades under Yasser Arafat.
Fatah has governed the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank since losing Gaza to Hamas in 2007.
The name is a reverse acronym from Arabic meaning "conquest" or "victory."
